Canon C-8 wide lens... WOW!

Post by mojohey »

:D Great news for me... after scanning Ebay far too often ... as we all do... i got the dream attachment for the 1014xls... Although i was expecting it to be good, i never thought it would AS good... once i attached the lens, looked through the viewfinder i was a happy chap. I'm just sorry the weather is so crap today or i would be straight out after work. Bring on the weekend. :D

One more thing... went out last night with my bauer A508 doing some night , time exposure filming... although i've had the Bauer for almost a year this is the first time shooting with the light cell popped out. Already can't wait to see the results... fingers crossed.

wide angle lenses are always a lovely thing to get in the mail :D I guess it depends on the purpose, but for me (I love shooting bmx stuff) shooting without a wide angle just doesn't seem right..

I have one of those wide angle attachments for my 814XLS and, in case you have not read the manual, they recommend shooting at f5.6 or better with the wide angle and I can vouch for this advice. If you open up further the images get noticeably soft. Maybe you already knew this but I thought I should mention it.

Ran into the same situation on my Canon too
While we're on the subject, what is a recommended lens for a Nizo 3056? I just ordered one it should get here pretty soon.

I don't have an answer to that. The Canon is the only one I have experience with. Someone else??

Cheers Rick...

I didn't know this about the lens, although yesterday i downloaded the manual for the 1014xl-s (courtesy of Shooting 8mm) and printed it off. Havn't had a chance to go through it yet. Got the Cam and lens in a camera bag with me at work... so i might have to show it off a wee bit... and if the weather stays nice... and if i can sneak away early... :D

Anyone know if they made a canon wide angle lens for the 512xl cameras with a 48mm filter screw thread?
Best Regards to all

I have a Canon products guide in front of me but it seems to have been printed before any of their xl cameras came out, so they are not covered. However, their wide-converter 0.65X fits the autozoom 518 and 518 sv, which have 48mm thread, so you could investigate that. Ditto for the tele-converter 1.6X. They also made a 48mm thread close-up lens for the 518's. The C-8 wide angle being discussed here has a 67mm thread so you could always step-up to that from 48.

not sure of the thread but I once had a wide angle for the 512XL as well as telephoto.

yup, I have the C-8 telephoto attachment for the autozoom 518SV, and it's a 48mm thread, so I can't see why it wouldn't work on your camera..
