new super eighter...has film questions

Post by jagermeister »

Hello.
My name is Travis. I just bought a mongomery ward suer 8 (model 705a)camera at a garage sale for 50 cents. It looks new but needs batteries.
How does the film cartridge work? Can I buy "any" type of super 8 film to put in it? Or is there a special type? I dont have a clue...thats why im posting.
Can I play back what i've filmed on it or do I have to have a projector?
I appreciate all answers and comments.
Thank you for your help
Travis

Short reply for a start:

Here are the most common films available for a Super8 camera:

You will ned a projector to see your films (recommended - big screen format) unless you transfer them to video (Actually good transfer services available - check: http://www.moviestuff.tv/ for reference). Films can not be played back from the camera.

Also check the info at this site. There are a lots available for beginners. Check menus on top (grey) and sidebar.

This one is good too:
