What about Gibagit S8 film?
Hi, I was searching for this special film stock around the Web.
The official page of Gigabit Film in Germany doens't show any E-mail to connect with them.
I sent E-mails to some Gigabit distributors in UK and Italy. No replies.
Anybody knows what happen with this "new" S8 film stock wich Gigabit promotes? :?
Carlos.

I contacted the Gigabit people by email about 6 months ago and they said they weren't ready yet.Cutty201 wrote:I am searching the internet for more info o nthis stuff and i am not finding any info about super8 film? Also what's efke ? that only comes in 2x8mm ...
Re: Efke...Efke is a Slovanian black and white film betwen an ortho and a pan. I've used the film many times with good results when good is defined as a period look in the sensititivity range. I would probably pick a Kodak stock though over the 50 and 100 ASA films when the desired look is contemporary (i.e., I like the 25 to use it enough regularly). One word of caution with this film: both the 120mm papers and the 35mm cartridges are prone to light leaks, so use a changing bag or at least subdued light. My opinion is the 25 is a little more sensitive that 25 asa, so underexpose by 1/3 of a stop for best results.
2x8mm means regular/standard/double (called all of them) 8mm, which means it comes in 16mm widths. I'm not aware that Efke manufactured this, but if they do, that's good news. Are you sure you're not confusing it with Foma films?
An absolutely bizarre way to run a business and makes one wonder if it's all a joke or something. I'm like others: contacted asking about status/distributors/pricing and never heard a word. AND I'M READY TO BUY, GIGABIT.
Anyways...
Pure speculation: They tested their super 8 film which was no doubt on polyester base like their other films, and found it a hopeless jittery mess because polyester base is too stiff for super cartridges like super 8 booster found out the expensive/hard way. So now they're trying to figure out how to put it on cart-friendly base material. I don't think they'll ever release it.

Not to mention the impossible task of perfing it properly: Agfa gave up s8 polyester for this reason in the 60s.Santo wrote: Anyways...

Yeah right, All patents for Super and Single-8 are western-country-company based but the inventors could not come up with a perforator for polyester.S8 Booster wrote:

This Agfa Copex film is also used for still photography and then using a special developer from http://www.8x11film.com I just bought a box of 12 pcs at € 8 at a photoshow. People are really desperate at getting these silver technology supplies out off the lab/house.Carlos 8mm wrote:I'm very anxious to prove Gibabit S8 stock. In reality Gigabit negative 40 and reversal 25 are Agfa stock for microfilming.
Carlos.
It is also being cut up to 9.2mm and used in MINOX cameras
Never saw it mentioned as polyester. But maybe it is.
Kind regards,
André
