Wal Mart and VNF R8 film

Post by thebrowniecameraguy »

I took a roll of Ektachrome(Cinecolor)125 process VNF to Wal Mart on Tuesday.

I called today(WED) to check the order with the 800 number and such, what I heard was "This is a special handle order, and will be returned on August 25, for more information regarding this order please speak with customer service"

So I held on to the line, and dialed 7 and was transfered.

I asked the woman about Ektachrome films, of course stupidly neglecting to mention that it was movie film. She said that Ektachrome films are sent to a seperate lab.

That was it. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. So I am going to call back at the end of the day and see if some different information about my order is available. I clearly marked the envelope Ektachrome VNF-1 2X8mm movie film. So It probably went to an Ektachrom lab.

We'll see what happens.

Cheers,
Jordan

I called the 800 number just 5 or 6 minutes ago, input my Wal Mart number and envelope number.

I heard, "This order has just been completed and will be returned to you in your next delivery; the retail price for this is $0 dollars and cents."

So this either means that it was processed incorrectly and I get it back for free, or most likely it wasnt processed.

But we'll find out tomorrow.

Cheers,
Jordan

WalMart has a deal with Fuji to process super 8/regular 8mm KODACHROME film only (via Dwaynes). I have never heard of anyone being successful able to process VNF, EKTA160 or B&W via walmart simply because Dwaynes is who you are really dealing with. You just get the super discount when you go through the walmart/Fuji deal.

I am afraid you will have to send you film to Yale Labs or similar outfits like the rest of us.

Of course, I could be proven wrong...but I doubt it in this case (same goes for SAMS CLUB and TARGET: no dice).

Good luck.

NO, Wal Mart can not outlab VNF films. I should have realized this, since the only movie films or positive films they process are the K-14 films sent to D'Waynes which is a K-14 lab only.

I wish though, that they would have sent (as a gesture of good measure) a list of labs that process regular 8mm VNF film. I know where to send it, but still it would have been a professional gesture to send a silp with several labs. Rather than a form with a box checked "We do not process this type of film".
