Problem With Zoom Servo on Angenieux 8-64mm lens

Post by Guest »

I recently obtained a Beaulieu 4008ZMII camera that's equipped with the Angenieux 8-64mm auto aperture/power zoom lens. Whenever the camera is in auto mode and I press either the telephoto or wide angle button on the lens barrel, I hear the zoom servo operating, however the focal length of the lens doesn't change--in other words, the zoom ring doesn't move. In case it matters, when I adjust the zoom speed dial, the servo sounds like it speeds up and slows down accordingly...it's just that the zoom ring on the lens isn't moving. Could there be a switch or something that I'm overlooking, or is this likely a problem that will require the lens to be serviced?

I have seen it before. It sounds like your servo posts are out of line with the teeth on the lens. You can get it fixed. If you are in the USA I would suggest Irv Higdon 818/894-6661 http://www.irvhigdon.com

Good Luck
