I don't mean to alarm anyone but I recently had two carts come back with some slight jitter. One cart was a Tri-X cart that I ordered from last Spring; that's probably the last of the "old batch."
However, the second cart was an Ektachrome 7240 cart that I purchased in late August. The last of the bad carts should have been phased out by that time.
I will keep everyone posted if requested.
Here are the serial numbers of the carts (I know the serial no. just refers to the film and not the cart itself, but I'm going for completeness here.):
Tri-X: 110/431 6898
E7240: 286 0408

Jitter Alert (Condition Yellow) -- Ektachrome 7240 and Tri-X

Hallo Tom.
In my opinion it is not shure, that you have jittery cartridges.
VNF 7240 works not well in some camera types, esspecially Nizo
and Beaulieu cameras has problems with that material. After
10 Meters the jittery begins and it is a problem of the camera
himself. A lot of Nizo cameras cannot adjust to bring VNF 7240
to good results. This has been shown by a long test periode,
that students have made for a film shot with VNF 7240 . You can eleminate the problems using the Andec - pressure plate. A lot of test has shown this. Unfortunately for that project we dont had the plate and a lot of trouble and 300 % more costs as planed.
The test with the plate was made later. But if both materials not work, there could be a generall problem with your camerafriction.
Greetings

The students use for the most shots after a long test periode also
a leicina camera. With that camera type they had never problems.
But if you have now problems a fault of camera can possible.
Cameras are only designed for work of 25-30 hours. You can only
do a test shot. But not only one film, this film can works well.
If there are OK, you have find defect cartridges.

I should add that I've also shot carts of K40 at the same time I shot the "bad" carts of E7240 and Tri-X and they (the K40) came out fine. The same night that I shot the E7240 and the Tri-X, I shot a roll of K40--that came out fine with absolutely no jitter. All three were used in the same camera.
Today I just got back three more carts of K40 that I shot since then and they are also fine. I'm going to risk another roll of E7240 and see what happens. At least K40 does not seem to be affected.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
