The most amazing little super 8 film
This is probably reallllllllly old news but I was surfing around on the net and stumbled across this web page that has what is, essentially, a shot by shot remake of the original Star Wars. It was all shot on Super 8. The down load ends up with a really tiny picture but the work these kids put into this thing is really amazing. If you forget what you're looking at, some of the shots look like the real thing!
Anyway, it's a lot of fun.

Learning by copy is what painters do for centuries. It's sad that this is not used with new media (understand photography, cinema and video). How great it would be to find a school where each week, students would try to reproduce a scene from a movie : this week, a scene from Allen's Manathan, next week a scene from Cassavetes's Opening Night, and so on... And why not star wars ....

But doesn't that fit the description of virtually every super 8 film ever made? ;)Actor wrote: But how do you tell the cast and crew "We're going to make a movie but no one's ever going to see it"?

Not quite. There's a difference between it turning out that way and knowing up front that it's going to be that way. It's the difference between "hope springs eternal" and "abandon all hope ye who enter here."MovieStuff wrote:But doesn't that fit the description of virtually every super 8 film ever made? ;)Actor wrote: But how do you tell the cast and crew "We're going to make a movie but no one's ever going to see it"?

Ha-ha! Yes, I guess your right. Now that I think of it, behind every super 8 production is a director dead certain that HIS film is going to create a paradigm shift in the film industry when, in reality, he'll be lucky if he can get through one cartridge without jitters or massive under-exposure. Who needs camera tests, fill light or distribution when concept is everything?Actor wrote:Not quite. there's a difference between something being legal and not getting into trouble for doing it, and i wouldn't advice anyone who's not a lawyer to tell people what's legal and what's not unless it's obvious. *that* could get you into trouble.Actor wrote:It's legal to do so as long as you don't distribute the film.
