from minidisc to computer

Post by jefury »

I dunno what I'm doing wrong.
I'm testing my minidisc player with a mono microphone. I also set the recording mode to mono.

It sounds great, but I can't transfer it onto the computer? The format of the recording is ATRAC. I'm not sure it that's the case, and I'm not sure how to change the format. The minidisc (Sony Net MD) came with the softare OpenMG Jukebox.

Would anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks

Jeffery

are you supposed to be able to? i thought you had to do it the good old analog way, netmd or not. no consumer md players have any kind of digital output afaik...

MD digital output

Post by dumb13 »

Folks,

Check out older Sony MD decks, some of them did have SPDIF outputs.
But really, this digital transfer doesn't mean you transfer the ATRAC data, you only transfer the de-ATRAC-ed data in a digital way right before the D/A converter of the deck, rather than the Analog sound AFTER the D/A converter - so you should have the ultimate quality of the MD anyway on the PC
