My gracious girlfriend bought me a Bolex B8 and C8 for my birthday just yesterday.........
I'm pysched!........
After playing with the P series and H8 I'm dying to try out these little cameras..........keep them in my pocket for some non chalant filming.......restaurants.....subways.........and the like......places where cameras don't usually go........
Hello Tod8. Are those cameras accept D-mount lenses? If so and if you are interested I have a zoom lens that I could exchange since I cannot find any D to C-mount adaptor.
It's my birthday today. I havent received my presents as yet but I doubt whether I'll get as good a present as yours. Some film would be a good substitute. Jost hope that my parents give me that Space 1999 Year 2 DVD box set that I put on my list.
Those B8 cams and the P1 have a roller on the film take up side that often does not turn any more. It needs to. What I did was to remove it and ream it out with a small round file. Mine were made of leather. Oil only made it stick more. It needs to remain dry to spin freely. You will hear a noise if the film loop is lost.

I have a B8L in which the take up shaft pulls but does not "slip" back so that the bottom loop is lost within 5 seconds of running. I heard there is a piece of leather inside the take up shaft that is suppose to allow the slipping to keep the bottom loop. How is the take up shaft suppose to come off? I don't want to break it, which it feels like I'm gonna do if I pull on it too hard.

Yes they accept D mount lenses. However I am only interested in using the prime lenses and I don't want a zoom lens (if I wanted to zoom I'd just pull out my P1 or P2). But thanks for the offer.

Space 1999 is so cool! Love that series. I started my current job on September 13th 1999, which as all Space 1999 fans will know, is the day that the moon was torn out of earth's orbit.
Actually, things might be a bit more exciting if the moon actually did exit the earth's orbit!
I preferred season 2 to season 1 of Space 1999. I liked the later stories more and of course Maya was a great asset to the show. Though the great things about season 1 was the rocking theme song and Barry Morse's character.

Congrats Tod! I have a B8L that I use more than any of my other Bolex cameras. It's the perfect combination of size and function IMHO. May you always have a wound spring and 10 feet of film left!

I'm sorry that my congratulations come too late to Tod and Patrick ;-) (in fact the 6th of December is the Birthday of Finland, I mean our Independence day:-)
I wonder how good cameras those old Regular 8's were. Here are some stills captured with Workprinter. I think you need pressure plate to obtain such stills with Super8. These have been shooted using Yashica 8T.
There is now one link more for an old DDR car in my page, but I don't know the camera used there: http://www.ag.fimug.fi/~Atte/
(Click "other examples" on the left, the picture of car is a link)
I'm not very interested in cars, but they are good objects when you compares 8mm still pictures.
I heard recently that there is some kind of pressure plate system of its own in Bauer S 715 XL. Is it true or only a joke?
