HP DVD Movie Writer dc3000

I am lead to believe this unit can process to DVD tapes that are 8mm conversions, has anyone any experience/advice to offer?As it is pretty new on the market I can only find one or two "reviews" so far. I feel it could help us in our embryo telecine setup
