Canon 514

Hi There,

I didn't use both of those cameras, but I do have a 514. It was my first camera, and its a joy to shoot with. The 514 model that I have runs just off 2 batteries, this is really good in my opinion because it makes the camera lighter, and you don't need seperate (and often hard to find) batteries for the light meter.

I use the 514XL for backup. It only runs with 18fps, not with 24. It´s so lightweight, that it is even trembling only by the movement of it´s own motor. The viewfinder adjustment disadjusts by itself, everytime before shooting the viewfinder must be adjusted again. If you forget that - all is out of focus. It produces a very loud noise and the XL shutter results in a significant strobe effect. Never move the camera! No possibilities to influence exposure in any way! However, the Canon lens is very fine.
Much better are the small (and cheap) Nizo´s. All have flash socket for sound syncing, 24 fps, manual iris, steady housing etc.
