I recently sent some tri-x and plus-x to Franklin Labs in CA. Last eve a fellow called to say that while developing 2 of the rolls, only 5ft was shot and the remaining 45ft were unexposed!
First let me say how please I am with Franklin Labs for calling me and alerting me to the problem. Also, they said they would develope the 5ft that is exposed on each roll but not charge me for it and give me credit on my next order.
Secondly, what do you suppose caused this? Could it be a "slack"problem that I've seen other posts about? Or is it a capstan problem?
Any help...?
How did I lose 45ft of k40?

I recently shot a roll of g160 and when I got to the end I took it out of the camera to find that the "exposed" was not there. the roll was tight to turn. I could turn it by hand the same way as the camera would and it just kept going with no "exposed" written anywhere. I am not sure if I went past the "exposed" writing or not but I am not looking forward on spending $12 on developing crap. I am wondering if the camera was just sitting there slipping and the roll was not moving. The counter worked and reset when I took it out. When I reinserted the film the counter started again.
that is exactly how it happened to me- i kept shooting and shooting, waiting to see the "exposed" and after i shot what seemed like hundreds of feet and still no sign, i decided perhaps the film cart was a defect w/out the lableing.
guy at the lab said, when this is happening, mark a small "x" on the film itself, shoot some more, and see if it has moved. i'm going to be shooting this wknd, so I'll try that if all else fails (and take my spare camera!)
