Got some 7240 footage back i shot a couple years ago. Was kind of unimpressed by the results of quality. The film sat around for two years before it was processed in a ziploc bag, and it was transfered by someone who i thought had a semi-pro telecine, but his job left black on both sides and i stripe at the bottom (is it normal to go to 3/4 broadcast then to minidv?)....so these things might have stacked up to poor image quality...(perhaps also that 7240 isnt the greatest stock in the world?)
Anyways, if anyones interested take a look! (Don't worry, the spraypainting was perfectly legal!)

Hi Vidverk or anyone reading,
this off topic:
Im new here & new to film & super 8.
The moving jpeg of (traffic speeded up) you have as your icon is the exact effect I am tryng to get for a music video project.
I was wondering if you or anyone on this friendly board would be able explain how the effect with traffic is done like that ?
I guess off hand it looks just like its sped up but - I know there's more to it with the way it trails like that - is this something done with a particular frame speed or function - maybe time lapse ? .. I am yet to learn in film school next year ?
Sorry if its a lame Q - I am just falling in love with real film & super 8 right now & I want to soak this knowledge up like a sponge!
Cheers for any feedback

hmmm
I thought it was simply an animated GIF kept withing the file size and parameters of a signature picture?? Pretty simple - doesn;t have to be super 8 but it helps for the forum!!!!

Re: First footage back..
well 7240 certainly isnt the greatest stock in the world, but having *any* film lying around exposed but unprocessed for 2 years (even airtight) is pretty much a guarantee for faded colors, low contrast and added grain... same thing can be achieved by laying it into the summer sun for a few hours if you dont want to wait 2 years ;)Jordan wrote:Got some 7240 footage back i shot a couple years ago. if you absolutely must wait with processing more than a few weeks, put the film into the freezer (not fridge).

ps. you shouldnt process them in a ziplic bag either :)
To me, Vidwerk's av looks like a combination of time lapse and time exposure. With time lapse as you know, a frame of film is exposed by the camera at fixed intervals. Time exposure is usually more commonly done with still cameras where one frame is exposed for a duration of time with the shutter held open - seconds etc. This long exposure of each frame with also help with the low light levels associated with night shooting. Unfortunately, very few super 8 cameras appear to have the time exposure function except for some of the Nizos and also a Bauer model or two I believe. Heaps of super 8 cameras can do time lapse though.
