I think it's shot with Vision 200T - and I know they used the pressureplate. Looks pretty good!!

this piece must look great in a higher res. format. I'd imagine it would appear virtually grain-less in PAL Avi (on a monitor, anyways).

mostly though i'm impressed by how rock-steady the image is.

there's that pressure plate thing helping again, i guess. does anybody sell those things in North America?

i'll have to see how the tests come back with my new Nizos to see if i'll need one. my Canon 814 sure does if I'm looking for close to 16mm steadiness like in this clip.

BTW, what I'd really like to know is what camera was used here for such good sharpness? Very curious about that.

the camera used was a canon 1014, if I am right.

As far as I know these pressure plates are only sold in Europe. Perhaps John Schwind in the US sells them too.

:D

That looks fantastic.......

... I don't read the VF, so I take the tag line 'More Colourful than ever' (please excuse poor translation) to mean the film stock (in my eyes)

... just proves even more to me how fantastic a short movie can look on super8.......

well, since you can actually clearly see the grain in this small version i'm pretty sure there's lots and lots of it at pal resolution. properly transferred k40 scaled down to this size is completely grainless. most people forget that all footage actually improves quite a lot in sharpness and grain when scaled down.

(i also thought the clip looked great though)

The more obvious pixels present in a low res format like this make it appear more grainy than it actually would be in AVI. That's all I'm saying.

don't make me do an emj on you, man!

not true -- it's the other way around, i promise. i'm guessing by grainy you might mean something other than the common meaning in a filmmaking context which is "the amount of film grain visible"? i've heard "laymen" use the word grainy for a lot of things ranging from unsharp through noisy to blocky, but i'd suggest we stick to the "correct" meaning since this is after all a film forum... ;-)

I mailed Jailbreak and asked them and the clip was shot on K40 using the pressure plate and scanned by filming it with a videocamera. ( They tried a cheap scan at Karlstad Film to Video but the result wasn't good enough.) I've mailed them again and asked about more details about the "scan".

Color correction in Adobe After effects.

Here's a making of shot if someone can id the camera:

that's a Canon 1014 Electronic

So that's K-40. Interesting. I knew it was too grainy to be Vision 200T.

i'm not sure what that smiley means exactly, but you do know that vision 200t is grainier than k40, right?

that's a wink at all the K-40 pushers (over Vision) who seem to populate this site. yeah, I'm well aware of the grain difference.
