"SUPER8 Analyzer"?? Anyone heard of this thing?

Post by tacotim »

I just picked up this crazy projector called a Super8 Analyzer. It's a projector that has a little control box that lets you project 1 frame at a time or at 1,2,3,4,6,12,16, or 24 FPS! Pretty crazy. Could be a poor man's Workprinter, I'll try to post some pictures later. I did test it out and it has a very steady picture at 24 fps. The single frame function works well. I got it at a university surplus sale. Just wondering if anyone has even heard of it before.

16mm analyzer

There's a 16mm Analyzer in a store near my home. It has the same kind of control box. It's a modified kodak projector. They were supposed to be for sports analysis and scientific motion analysis.

Projectors like these were also sold for police investigation and surveillance/intelligence work. Kodak and other companies made super8 surviellance cameras (no viewfinder, time lapse, fixed focus), and these projectors would be used to view/analyze the time lapsed footage...

probably would make a good transfer projector...
