Scandinavian Shooting8mm Meeting

Post by Guest »

I was thinking...

Since the international meeting, the one in the US (discussed in an earlier thread), didn´t take off... :(
Could we start discussing the possibility of a smaller Scandinavian meeting?
It would be really nice to meet the guys "next door" so to speak and show some work, watch movies and eat popcorn, discuss, check out the andec pressure plate, drool over each others gear, have some barbecue and a beer, sauna?, shoot something together maybe...
I´m thinking Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland ... and everybody else who wanna come!

About location: I don´t really care WHERE it takes place. THAT it takes place is what I´M interested in ...

If Andreas would agree to being host, holding it all in Norway would be the coolest solution IMHO, (giving everyone a chance to have a look at the workprinter, and Andreas a chance to promote his services) but if he's not up for it, I´m sure it could be held in Stockholm (or anywhere else...). That would be closer for our Finnish neighbours, but not by that much.
That´s the thing with a gathering like this. It´s ALWAYS a long way to travel for somebody... We need to just PICK a place !

Just a thought,
Mikael

I like this idea!

You know, we have had 2 small gauge film meetings here in Finland during last year.

We'll also have the 3rd one during next Winter, so all of super 8 shooters from Skandinavian are wellcome!

About places: Norway is great, but for us in Finland Stockholm would be the best place indeed.

So, I have to vote Stockholm, cause it's almost in the middle of Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Finland circle, so everyone from outside of Sweden could have almost same distance from their home to meeting place.

I also think we'd get many shooters just take ship to Stockholm from Finland, I mean these guys, who write more to our forum in Finland, but read also all messages at filmshooting.com

Participant?

Jukkasil
Mikael
Andreas ?
Super8booster ?
Atte, Salla and Marko Tenkanen?
Mattias?
Petteri?

From Finland I think these guys would also be interested:

Lauri Hirvonen
Tommi Kinnunen
Mikko Tuuliainen (using staticrecords or Mikko nick name here)
Janne Lahti
Petri Flander
Arto Majuri
Seppo Töllikkö
etc.
Best Regards

Good idea, Mikael.

I'd like to suggest here some lecture topics that could be interesting:

- State of art in telecine: past, present and future of affordable film scanning.

- Home processing S8 and 16mm revrsal: The art and technique.

- Small-gauge lighting: The art, technique and equipment to achieve good results.

- Crystal-syncing S8/16 cameras: methods and options.

- Beyond S8: Which camera to look for to shoot your short? whether to rent or buy?

Cheers,

Petri

I would very much like to join, if I can fit it into my schedule.

I do think, however, we should think of a program with lectures from cameramen, filmmakers or the like.

Also a showing of films from various sources would be nice.

I know a few people that would be interested in an arrangement like that. I could ask at the danish filminstitute if they would be interested...

From my point of view, Stocholm would be best place. Nothing wrong in Oslo or Copenhagen either (lovely places both), but it would be so easy to travel to Stockholm. Helsinki or Sauvo would not be so bad either ;-)

So you can count me in!

I would come if the timing and location is suitable for me - and my wife. I love Stockholm, so that would be ideal location.

Hey, I'll be in Stockholm, Sweden from the 21st to the 26th and then Helsinki, Finland from the 27th to the 31st! I'd enjoy meeting up with some of you then. Maybe just meet at a bar or something? Just a thought. I'm trying to decide if I should bring any of my super8mm camera. I don't even know where in those cities I can buy film!

Hi Konton! I used to buy my Super-8 film form a department store in Helsinki called 'Antilla' - it's in the complex opposite central sation above the underground train station.

Maybe some of you Finnish Super8 guys and gals could tell me if Antilla don't sell them anymore.....

I don't know about Stockholm... my last visit I had lots of Rolls with me...

BY the way... I'm in Sweden from 23rd to 30th.....

I shall be in Uppsala at some point, but I'm staying with a friend in Borlange... anyone around those parts from these boards???

All the best

>>I live in Uppsala !

What a coincidence that you will both be here! We should indeed meet somewhere and shoot film and have a beer and look at the blondes..!
Hopefully Mattias will join us! Seems like it could become a nice mini Super8 meeting!

All the Anttila department stores sell Kodakchrome K40 for around 16-17 euros. In Helsinki, you can find Super8 films also at Stockmann which is the Finnish equivalent to Harrods.

Mikael !

Yes, we should meet up!

I'm not sure yet what days I will be in Uppsala, but I can find! Maybe you could send me a private mail with your personal contact details!

Tenkanen!

I completely forgot that you can by Super8 in Stockmann! .... I have to say that Antilla in Oulu, Joensuu and Kokkola were out of stock when I visited them.... nevermind! Antilla or Stockmann in Helsinki for your super8 then!!
