Regular 8mm Tri-X is now available

The costs were a little higher than I was expecting when I included shipping to/from Germany and other overhead costs. I'm hoping that future runs can be larger, to reduce the cost.
I will sort out international shipping this week and add that as an option.

Yeah that's too expensive for me! Did you ask Pro-8mm how much they want to punch these sprocket holes for you? You've got to find yourself a decent sewing machine then go to a machinist and get them to grind you a punch so you can do this in a dark room.

Unfortunately, quality isn't cheap.slashmaster wrote:Yeah that's too expensive for me! Did you ask Pro-8mm how much they want to punch these sprocket holes for you? The V3 50D should be cheaper, because we did a larger run.
Here is the single roll option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301903867350?ss ... 1555.l2649

I would it, but I prefer to wait for the V3 50D, with my Bolex I would shot something in color.
Dennis, I'm sorry, but I'll never understand English very well: you said, by chance, you put on sale Tri-x also for 16mm cameras?

Kodak still sells 16mm Tri-x with single perforation. Do you need 16mm Tri-x with double perforation? I have plenty of that. I'm sending 1000' to retrocine.com to be loaded into 50' mags. I have 1000' that is not committed.

It also Ok in double perf because I don't want put magnetic sound stripe in my shot with Tri-x.
Ok I think even the 50 'mag, I use a Krasnogork 3, but I think that wrap (in total darkness, of course), 50' in an original spoole of my K-3 and shot is not a problem. What do you say? There is a saving compared to the classic 100 '?
Do you think you have the availability of Tri-x 16mm and V3 50D Reg 8 in the same period? Maybe I would save on shipping costs.

Selling directly would save 10% on eBay fees.
Is your website in operation? I get only a fully white window in my browser but no error-report...

Hi Andre,
Website not yet created. Thanks for asking.
Ebay is just a way to get up and running fast. I won't use them as my long-term solution.
I've sold 3 rolls on ebay and 12 rolls directly to someone who expressed interest awhile ago. I've only got 30 more rolls of Tri-x Double 8mm. I should have the 50D later this week or early next week.

It is bit sorry to have it up but empty
Just put in the text of your eBay auction or a copy of the announcement here and an URL pointing to the Tri-X and Vision threads here. Then people can contact you through this sites messager or use the email button. Set your signature and buttons here to point to your site and email address. This site has a considerable status with google. Things will be gone before you know it
And list on cinematography.com too.

International shipping is now available for the three roll opiton:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Rolls-Kodak-T ... 1903804908?
The International Flat Rate Box will hold up to 12 rolls, so one $39.95 shipping charge covers 3-12 rolls.
Thanks!

Re: Regular 8mm Tri-X is now available
There has been a temporary hiccup with distribution...
Yesterday, Ebay forced a refund on me, and that experience has caused me to end my selling activities on Ebay. Some guy in San Diego experienced buyer's remorse after buying some (rare) 4 x 5 FP100c and claimed that he thought he was getting 400 exposures for $199 not 10. The auction clearly stated 10 exposures. Ebay refunded purchase price, refunded shipping charge, and charged me for return shipping. On top of that, I got an open, crushed box back with scotch tape repairs on it. When I appealed the matter, Ebay replied that the buyer stated the item was already damaged when he received it. But that wasn't the issue at all -- the Ebay employee clearly didn't even bother to read the complaint or rebuttal or even look at the original listing.
So that's it for Ebay. I'll be setting up an old-school ordering system: fill out an order form and mail it to me with a check and I'll send you film. And the film will cost less because Ebay and Paypal are ejected from the process.
I did file a small claims suit against Ebay and the buyer. The process server in San Diego was supposed to serve the guy today.

Re: Regular 8mm Tri-X is now available
Sorry to read such a story. Heard of such before but never experienced it myself. Although I don't sell that much.
One aquaintance got an expensive camera back of which the perfectly good lens was swapped for a broken one.
Generally things go well but some buyers are crooks. And I learnt personally some sellers are too
Just don't bid that much anymore.
I know frequent or pro-sellers photograph items just before packaging and then the packed parcel too. Just keep the files until all has cleared.
Just use the classifieds section here and on other forums like cinematography.com or others.
Possibly Etsy might work too. Far more artisan and knowledgeable audience. But possibly they have these return rules too

Re: Regular 8mm Tri-X is now available
Well here's some good news...a firm that everyone here knows and loves advises me that the manufacturer of their 5k (I think) scanner has provided them with a software rev that will allow them to scan UNSLIT Double 8mm and parse it. That means that the output won't look like this https://vimeo.com/158709257 , rather, it will look like a normal movie.
Why does this matter, you ask? Because if the negative is kept in unslit state, it can later be PRINTED onto 16mm 3383 print stock and slit and...drum roll...PROJECTED. The really important thing is that you will now be able to view your footage before deciding whether or not you want to print it. How about that?
In other news, Wittner has today shipped V3 50D Double 8mm film to me. I will have it Friday. Also today, I posted a pdf order form at http://www.toeppenfilm.com. Please try to suppress the natural urge you will have to be frustrated with the pricing of the converted stock. Everything in this little adventure has been quite expensive. But I know we've got a quality product.
Dennis
edit: Correction, I've been informed that the scanner won't parse the two halves, but rather it will zoom in on one half and exclude the other half. Film will have to be flipped to get both sides. But still...
