If you have a film cleaning machine, what are your habits?

If you have the "Film-O-Clean" from Neil Industries, or the one from Kelmar, what are your habits when you run a very dry very dirty film? I'm squirting some vitafilm on the media pad rollers with a spray bottle, seems like right now the beginning of the film is very clean but the rest of it didn't get much cleaner yet. I'm guessing the reason is because the vitafilm I sprayed was quickly soaked up by the beginning of the film? What are your habits? Do you only spray before you show or do you spray mid film? How many passes do you think it takes to clean a very dirty film?
