Bell & Howell Filmosonic

Post by Westinghouse »

Good morning all

Now i've started collecting projectors it seems I cant stop. Having already aquired a Bell and Howell 625 and a Eumig 501 .. I was at an auction recently and picked up a Bell and Howell Filmosonic Super8 sound projector for £3. And its working! (Albeit seemingly the same problem I have with my Eumig 501 - in that wether playing in 18 or 24fps (switch on machine) its running the film very slow!?:

Is anyone able to identify its model type so I can try and find a manual for it?

Image

Alternatively - can anyone identify what some of these switches do?

Image

1. Play/Rewind Switch
2. Bulb Switch
3. Power Switch
4. Appears to be a cutter or splicer for making the end of the film reel into a < shape
5. ??
6. ??
7. ??
8. ??
9. ??
10. Volume
11. This switch appears to modify the audio speed slightly. Though it was hard to tell as its playing it very slowly.

1. Some sort of power or fuse settings? The options on the dial are 220, 190, 110, 240 and what looks like 8 over 250.
2. Speaker Jack?
3. Mic Jack?
4. ??

Anyway - if anyone has any idea what model it is, why it may be running slowly (as my Eumig 501 is doing the same - it seems a bit odd!) and what the various bits do - that would be fantastic!

Cheers all !

Congrats on the find! Are you familiar with super8data? They have a list of most every super 8 projector ever made. This one looks like a 1744 or 1745 but it doesn't have that kind of lamp switch. Sure looks like a 17 something. They have projectors listed that they don't have pics of. A word of caution though, that autoloader is known to be horrendous to films! I have a bell and howell 346 A which had that kind of autoload and it was so bad for the film I removed all autoload parts so I could thread it like your other bell and howell. https://www.facebook.com/ShildFilm/phot ... =1&theater
