sankyo xl420 run with no film?

Post by grainy »

Hi folks, I dug out my xl420 the other day and it seems to register new batteries (the light comes on) but when I pull the trigger, the motor does not respond.
The motors in my other cameras run w/o film.
Is my beautiful Sankyo dead?

Unfortunately most likely dead.

I am pretty sure that any cam will run without film but you may locate all "fingers" and levers inside the cart compartment and presse then to their respective end point and pull the trigger - if needed by "a little help from your friends...."

good idea S8 --- tried that but no dice unfortunately. The machine has a "block of wood" lack of responsiveness to it.
I think this one's time has come.
I have two others that're still running strong, though! Too bad the perfectly good eyecup doesn't fit on my GAF agstomatic

You may "knock it lose" by using an external power supply using higher capacity and/or voltage giving a short "burst" to break it lose and then again try to run it off the regular battery pack,

CRC 2.26 does wonders with contacts in the power circuits (switches) and electrical circuitry.
