Logmar beta camera update "First metal parts are arriving"

Post by Nicholas Kovats »

From the Logmar blog at http://www.logmar.dk/first-metal-parts-are-arriving/. There appears to be a slight delay relative to their metal material shipments and test film processing. First batch of completed cameras will be shipped to Super 8 Sound in California approximately January.

My question is, where is KODAK in all of this? You'd think they'd offer some advertising support or something for this. I know Kodak's just hanging on, but even a little nod of support would go a long way.

Kodak keeps forgetting it's not a monopolistic dinosaur anymore.

Boy that corporate mentality is hard to shake. I work for a little company that does work for a huge corporation and there's no agility at all in that setup.
It's too bad, of course, that Kodak has to learn this the hard way.
On the other hand, Farrania hasn't stepped up either.

No, I think not. I am already getting a $1,500 US discount for investing in the beta.

Looks good, the metal looks thick and sturdy. But just to be picky, I wish it said Super 8mm across the bottom instead of just S8 :P

Probably a licensing thing...I bet Kodak still has that trademarked even if their patents are expired.

I get the feeling there are no marketing people at Kodak left or at least any that are tasked with Super 8 film or any motion picture film for that matter.

Why not a print ad with Christopher Nolan about his use of film? Why not throw some free film to some of these video bloggers like Philip Bloom and have them talk about it? So many easy little things they could do that would raise the profile of film.

Sad, because it wouldn't take much for Kodak to make some cool Super 8 videos or make film experts available to these boards (like John Pylak used to be).

Kodak super 8 film will be 50 years old in april 2015 ! maybe there will plan some kind of history trip marketing for it? or pull the plug ?
I know after there pulled 100d ? then put up the prices of Ti X ? was not avery happy filmmaker , still we find the bucks to be able to shoot our beloved super 8 films < The kodak Moment is not for the poor anymore ,
What even more amazing is that we can still find this film format, and film with camera's from that time, that still work !
If you think what has come and gone so fast over the past 50 years ? And now we have the Logmar that's not a cheap camera to buy in this age !
