Smal travell lens for Beaulieu 4008

Post by freddenacka »

Halo!
I want a small light strong lens to my Beaulieu 4008.
I did try a c mount lens from a Bell and Howell but that one did hit the bottom on the lens mount and only was possible to focus as macro 20 cm or so.
5-15 mm and at least 2.0 aperture and of course god quality.
Have a Schneider 6-66mm 1.8 now and real like the quality of it but it is big for the small camera.
Any recommendations?

For my beaulieu 4008 light shooting use's a 10mm cinegon or a 1.4 8 / 50 schneider lens , I put on a UWL 1 if I want wide shots on the fly , really light outfit or use my leicia M lens with a m mount to c mount app for more tele .

We have been testing a switar 16mm lens off our bolex…it seems to work fine with our 4008….and it works well with a anamorphic on the front. So i imagine all the bolex prime lenses would work.

Hi see post on c mount lens mounts as not all bolex lens will fit ? you have the switar and the RX lens or so some tv lens /cctv lens will not work as rear is to long even if there are called cine m lens , can get some what lost out there ? ie Ebay ,
Good luck on the anamorphic filmmakeing nice set up Miles . very nice !working on a set up for my baby Isco need right c mount prime also have the very rare Red stan anamorphic lens mount makes it easy to hand hold , with out the bulk or lens support .

Yep was looking at those lens holders they look great……was thinking of making one on the lathe. This one i printed for the bolex h8/16 and then whipped up a little adaptor so it would fit the weird 4008 grip. Sorry for the thread hijack he he

I have recently been using a Soligor 25mm f0.95 cine lens that works great with my Beaulieu 5008s multi-speed (when paired with 500T film you can shoot at night, too!). This is sort of a generic version of the Angenieux 25mm f0.95 lens, which might also be a good choice if you have the money. I got the Soligor for just under $300 off ebay.

I also have a Beaulieu Reflex Control (the wind-up pre-electric predecessor of the R16) that fits all the same lenses, so I've also got a Switar 10mm AR, and an Yvar 16mm AR (which are both pre-RX lenses). I picked them up off ebay for about $120 each (including shipping), but they did/do require some work.

I've used a 6mm and 8mm Pentax c-mount TV lens with excellent results. Extremely small and light weight.

I wonder how something like this would do...
