Once a year in early June, the Reading Regional Airport (Pennsylvania, USA) puts on a WWII Weekend show that includes vintage aircraft, all sorts of military vehicles, encampments, etc. I figured it would make great subject matter for Super 8 filming, so this year I loaded up my Canon 1014-XLS with some Ektachrome 100D and headed on over. Weather was perfect. I had the film processsed by Dwayne's Photo and scanned it myself with a Retro-8 film scanner. Just for fun, I recorded sound using an iPhone and crudely synced it up while editing. Unfortunately, it appears some lint got into the film gate on some sequences, but overall, it was an enjoyable experience that I hope to repeat again next year. Here's a link to the video:

BTW, how does one use the youtube embed option? I put the video link between the youtube tags, but instead of an embedded player, I just see the youtube tags flanking the link on either side.

Very cool. I'm envious as I don't have any 100D. Next big airshow, Wings over Houston, I was thinking of filming with an ancient cart of Svema

Thanks! Yeah, I bought about 50 rolls of 100D when Kodak announced they were no longer making it (at the normal price, mind you. Not the crazy ebay prices you see now). Provided E6 processing stays around, my supply should last a while.

Looks great! If you export using the CleanCrop feature, it will leave out most if not all of the dirty edges of the camera gate.rcgrabbag wrote:Unfortunately, it appears some lint got into the film gate on some sequences, but overall, it was an enjoyable experience that I hope to repeat again next year. The lint got pretty far into the picture and I didn't want to lose that much of the picture in order to remove it. Lesson learned for next time is to clear out the film gate before using.
