16 mm B/W prints from negative

Post by freddenacka »

Halo
I´m new so maybe my questions are easy but anyway.
I film in 16mm b/w negative. I´m thinking of sending it to Andefilm to make positive prints to use in the projector.

If I want to do this by myself to save money, what would I basically need?
Is there any good literature on this subject?
I develop my film by myself in a loomo tank so that is not a problem.
My darkroom is in my bathroom so I can´t invest in do bulky and heavy things.

Greeting
Fredrik

In the U.S. there's a great little company called videofilmsolutions.com that will make great prints on true b&w print stock for you. They are constantly experimenting and are worth talking to for all types of film lab work.

Thanks, the only problem is that I´m located in Sweden.
I have been reading more on this subject and it seems that it needs bulky things to do DIY.
Will be in Vermont for two weeks this summer.

It is quite straightforward making your own contact prints, if you can find an old 16mm camera. See:

http://filmisfine.co/printing-special-e ... in-camera/

First check to see if the camera transports the two strips of film happily through gate. Because the claw holds both in register, you will probably get a steady image on the print.

Cool!
I should look for at old camera and try this, if it has variable speed then I can just adduce that to give more or less light.
Maybe I can use just some frosted glass as a diffuser instead of the lens

I would like to know too. I've been using very old FP3 negative film, which does work but without contrast, and really only good for rough copies. Shortish lengths of positive 16mm would be very nice.
I'm surprised how sharp DIY contact prints can be.
