Portable 4ch recorder for super8 filmmaking

Post by kadrew »

I´ve just got a Tascam DR-60d and testing it with Nizo Pro and Bauer A512. The Nizo has both sync abilities, pilot tone and 1000Hz pulse (A512 only 1000Hz pulse).
The tone/pulse goes into ch3-4, mini-stereojack. Two microphones into XLR, ch1 and ch2. No crosstalk problems.
The unit have a slate function; one button; all channels a one second 1000Hz tone.
""Synchro marking is effected by means of an "electric clapper", that is to say by means of pre-exposure on the film and a tone on the tape.""
sitat from the manual.
Have anybody tried this?

Can you explain how having this tone recorded alongside the sound will be used afterwards to obtain sync sound?

When I record in 4ch-mode, there will be made two files named x12.wav and x34.wav.
Line/mic signals will be recorded in x12.wav. pilot tone or pulse will be recorded in x34.wav.
The recorder has a dedicated slate-button; it makes a one second 1000hz tone, marked on the
two files at the same time (for syncing in the post).
The sampling frequency (and format) is max 24 bit 96kHz broadcast
wave format, both files.

P.S.
ch3 and ch4 can be used for two sync-signals; Nizo Pro (pilot) and Bauer A512 (pulse). With a common head- and tail clap in picture. Multicam with sync-sound.
