Having just purchased an ancient Eumig 501 to view the old family cine films.. everything was going great until it stopped taking the film through.
By this I mean that the motor is still working but there is no engagement on picking up the film when feeding it through.
Having opened it up I can that film is quite loose. It looks like there are some screws there but I dont know if these are adjustment screws? And more importantly I am not familiar with the mechanical workings of the projector.
So before I start to disect everything.. (normally have a few bits left over when doing this type of thing  ) I thought I would ask some worldy wise experts of the opinion on this.
Just looked up that projector on super8data. Never owned a eumig, but in general projectors, that do both super 8 and standard 8 are not very good. Can you pull the front cover off?
Sorry to take issue there, Slashmaster, but those of us that know our projectors find that the EUMIG ranges of dual gauge projectors are generally great, dependable workhorses... so long as they are not mistreated by vandals.
There is insufficient detail in the description of the problem to determine what the problem is, but if Andyp contacts me by PM I will try to help.

Oh, so these are the exception to the rule? It's hard to tell when the film path is completely covered like that. So they have sprocket wheels and not just the claw and a few rollers like one of those cheap GAF dual 8's right?
They are no more prone to problems than single gauge machines... so long as they are used properly.
The 501 does not have a sprocket drive, by the way....
I found this of one partially apart http://van-eck.net/images/apparatuur/Eu ... ector.html Andrew, if you're going to use this projector and care about the films you're showing, be sure to keep the film path clean with a Q-tip. Check those white tensioner shoes at the bottom for wear. When they are new they only touch the outside edges of the film but as they wear down they start to touch the middle. I had a problem with this kind of projector from GAF before, The shoes wore down and the film got scratched. That being said, it does look a step or 2 above the GAF one I had.
