Hi,
I would like to start messing around with the film itself, i.e. matting parts out, looping, home developing techniques etc
Had a look around on the net and can't seem to find anything in this area... does anyone know of any...past or present?
Many thanks.
Book recommendations for experimenting with film stock

Recipes for Disaster by Helen Hill, is available as a pdf on the web. I don't have a link handy but it can be found. Its a pretty old book, most of the information is still good but they do often reference film stocks that are no longer made.
A more recent book is Recipes for Reconstruction by Steven Woloshen, which is about painting/scratching film, homemade contact printing and other 'hands on' ideas. Comes with a DVD of his films that demonstrate each of the techniques he goes over.
Web and forum searches on hand processing will turn up loads of information on processing times and alternative techniques.
