Canon AF 310XL

Post by john59 »

I bought this camera out of curiosity and it was cheap and I liked the look of it.

So after receiving it, I put some battery's in it and it runs sweet as a nut, The auto focus seems to work ( or should I say that the lenses seem to move when the trigger is half pressed )

So on the assumption that every thing is ok with this little gem, I plan to shoot some night shots of the illuminations in Blackpool soon.

For those that don't know about these, here's a link.....................http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackpool_Illuminations

As you can see, there are a lot of lights, but do you think that the camera along with a roll of Ektachrome 100D will be up for the job?.

Cheers guys in advance.

The autofocus of this AF310XL camera uses its own infraread light beam. So that will work :) But AF is only important for nearby objects otherwise it wil be on infinity. Remember that it only focuses at the start of the shot.

I have shot plenty old Ektachrome 160 sound and Ektachrome 7240 with this camera and the optics are just fine. Although mostly indoor with existing light rather then outdoor with artificial lights in the full darkness of night. The background is then always black in Blackpool. I had a separate long-wired small microphone with it. Fixed it to a person or on a object to keep the camerasound off the track.

It is an expensive way of shooting memories but it brings the full charm of genuine film.
