I am still looking for lenses for my H16 RX. Currently I am trying to purchase a Schneider Cinegon 10mm lens on eBay. If my bid was successful, would it be advisable to stick to Schneider for a future normal and tele lens or can I combine Schneider and Kern lenses, as far as their optical characteristics especially color is concerned?
Thanks
Philipp

Re: Schneider and Kern Lenses
Is the Schneider lens optimized for Bolex Reflex cameras? If not, the focus won't be as sharp below f4 or f5.6 (I've seen many different opinions posted on this) than a lens optimized for the reflex viewing mechanism. Kern lenses optimized for reflex cameras are marked RX.
I assume if the Schneider lens is designed for reflex cameras, it is clearly stated. I have an Angenieux 12-120 for RX cameras, so I know manufacturers other than Kern made reflex lenses.

Re: Schneider and Kern Lenses
Hello Roger,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Schneider is a 1.8/10 RX Cinegon, so it should be RX-corrected.
What I actually meant, was whether lenses of both manufacturers could be combined, or wether the characteristics of the film shot with lets say a Schneider wide followed by footage shot with e.g. a Kern normal would noticeably differ.

Re: Schneider and Kern Lenses
Most books and articles I've read say not to mix different brand lenses because of differences in how they render color. I shoot with a Kern 10mm, Kern Vario Switar Compact (zoom), and an Angenieux 12-120 zoom. Everything I've shot so far has been on E100D and projected (~2 meters diagonal). I've not noticed any difference in sharpness between the different brands. As for color, the Kerns might have a slightly colder (bluish) rendition than the Angenieux. Their color rendition reminds me of the 1970s Canon FD lenses I used to use.
Unfortunately, I've never used a Kern and Angenieux on the same roll, or edited shots made with the different lenses together, so I can't be entirely sure of the amount of color difference. If you're shooting for telecine, you can probably adjust the color rendition in post.

Thanks Roger!
According to your reply it seems that the differences are within an amateur's tolerance. I'll go for the Schneider and then see, what I get next.
