Worst constructions in Super 8 cameras

Post by 71er »

What is your experience?
The worst I found recently in a Nizo 4056. Camera powered up when pressing the main switch but no motor running when pressing the start button. Turns out that there was no connection at the film speed dial - on the main board there are plastic discs which turn metal connectors (stripes of metal sheet) around the contacts. The connectors are held by tiny little plastic extrusions to the plastic discs; when those little plastic parts break - no contact anymore - camera is not running. They are built to break and are in my opinion the weakest link in the camera; additionally extremely stupid to disassemble and assemble again.

I imagine this applies to the 6056 too?
On a different note: if your Nizo camera is completely busted, and you have that Braun/Nizo Matte box with its accessories staring at you - think no more - I'll buy it from you :)

Here is another bad design but with the 6056:
With the handle folded up, the front edge of the handle protrudes BEYOND and to the front of the edge of the lens with the tripod threads way to the rear. Rediculious. Makes it impossible to use with a 15mm rod system.
