I need to build a new screw for LOMO 15meter spirals i tried to build one out of a 10mm cilinder with a manual screw tool but nylon is too soft and the cilinder isn't very straight, because of the torsion,
Well, do you know what would be the best material to build a new screw that could resist chemicals, and that could resist the torsion of the manual screw tool?
I need a 10mm cilinder, but i can't find it in bakelite or pvc, onlys soft plastics...
If you ever done something similar, please tell me where i can find it, i could use a metal screw, but it will damage the developer and bleach constitution for sure...
Thanks

well, i found some pvc screws on the internet, they're M10 screws, but they are not very long, i needed them around 200mm and they're mainly made in China, i suppose it isn't easy to find them..

Re: bakelite or pvc cilinder for super8 film spirals
Hello Ricardo,
I have had the screws (as well as special joiners I need for making jumbo stacks of spirals) made out of a type of plastic called 'Acetyl'. It is available from the kind of places that sell specialist bolts and nuts, etc.. It is chemical resistent, quite strong enough, and easy to turn on a lathe.
good luck with it,
richard
