Double Super 8 Conversion of Bolex Cameras

Post by sciolist »

H.-D. Grebenstein, Jaakko Kurhi, and Ruedi Muster did DS8 conversions of Bolex cameras. Were there other technicians who did these conversions? Who were they? I've owned cameras converted to DS8 by each of the three I've named and in each instance a label identifying the technician was affixed to the camera. I currently have a Bolex H8 RX4 DS8 camera that carries no such identification even though the conversion is beautifully done.

There was a company called Swiss Professional Movie Equipment Ltd.in NYC run by a gentleman named Joseph Vasata. They were official Bolex 16mm service representatives and they also offered DS8 conversions. Maybe you could post pictures of the camera. That might give some clues as to where the conversion was performed.

I'd like to provide images, but I've never succeeded in uploading any to this forum. Explanations of how to do so are of no use because I'm unfamiliar with the terminology. The camera's serial number is 212573.

You could upload then to a picture hosting service such as photobucket (among many others) and provide a link to their site.

Alternately, if want to mail them to me directly, I'll see if I can do it for you.

email is: bolextech@gmail.com
