My site on youtube has just been approved under youtube's monetization scheme
http://www.youtube.com/user/ManvsPlatypus
but I'm pretty new to how all this goes - does anyone else here use it - and any tips one way or the other? Is anyone making any money out of it?
The top youtube site channels generate hundreds of thousands of dollars from these ads - but you need millions of hits for that. From the indie film makers point of view it sounds pretty good but from what I can see it mainly suits sketch comedy, vloggers and a few musicians - I guess film makers don't generate enough new material to keep it ticking over?
Though having said that I've got to say the site above is for my comedy sketches, but my other site where I've got camera tests, and demo clips etc has generated alot more hits (though over a longer period of time) -- there'd probably be the opportunity for someone with a whole series of Super 8 demo or tutoring clips to make some money. --> Could be a whole new avenue for you Andreas and the filmshooting.com site?? A dedicated Super 8 Youtube Channel?
Anyway though anyone with any real experience on the whole monetization thing I'm keen for any feedback and tips

Re: Experience wtih youtubes monetization programme?
I got the email from them a few weeks ago. My guess is it sends it out automatically when your video reaches about 900 views since my video was just over 900 when I got the email. I went ahead and followed the instructions and set it to "monetize" but I doubt I'll ever see a dime since my video is not really what I would call in demand and they have to click the ads in order for it to generate any money. I figure in 10 years I'll have a 7 cent check...

One of my youtube videos is part of this program (the Adsense deal.) With the views I'm getting with this particular video(currently 86,853 views) I'm probably earning a few cents per week. Ive been with this program for over a year and so far, Ive accumulated AU$64.21. Of course Ive got to wait a while longer before I can actually see any of that money. And just now, Ive found out that I made 2c today!
