FUNNY FOMA STORY

Post by Wade »

I've been looking to purchase B&W DS8 film in North America. I only found that B&H Photo sells 10m of Fomapan for $11.99 USD plus shipping. But their website describes it as 2x8, with a photo of a DS8 Foma box. So I called them to see if it was regular8 or DS8. Their customer service didn't know. Their photo dept. didn't know. They suggested I call their importer's 800#. I actually did. The little farce degenerates to travesty when the importer affirms suppling B&H, but they can't find the Fomapan R100 in their catalogue!! So, I take a chance an buy a roll. (I've got R8 and DS8 cameras, so either way I can use it.) It takes 2-4 weeks just for them to ship it. Maybe they actually make an individual order from Europe. B&H sends me an ambiguous email explaining that the Foma is DS8--but also indicating it is 2x8. Still confusing. Well...it all ends happily when I receive the little box yesterday, a month later, and it really is DS8 Fomapan R100. So, if anyone wants DS8 B&W Fomapan, you can get it at B&H. You just have to plan ahead, or not care about how long it takes to receive it.
