I haven't been here in a while but am finally getting back around to working with super 8 this weekend, can't wait! It's nice to be back in the company of fellow nerds!
Anyway, late last year I decided to widen the gates on my Nizo Pro, Nizo 801 and 2 of my Canon 1014 XLS cameras. The Canons were easy enough to widen but the Nizos were a nightmare, never again! Putting the gate back onto the camera body without losing the springs and screws is really stressful and so bloody difficult.
I would strongly advise against widening the gates of the Nizo and to be honest I don't think I would bother widening gates of a super 8 camera again as I don't like having to worry about what is lurking outside of the frame. I am not sure if the extra resolution is worth the hassle especially given that I use super 8 because of the raw imagery anyway.
Don't widen the gate on your Nizo!!!
