Howdy,
first time caller, long time listener
Glad to be admitted to this cool board. I have a couple of questions, I'm hope somebody could answer. I just picked up a bolex h8 rex4, as a trainer for shooting 16mm. (stoked). I have some c mount lens I have been hording for years, and i am wondering about the compatability. I have read the "rx lens stuff" on bolex colector, and know about the " minimum of 50mm of focal Length" rule of thumb. I was wondering if anyone has used an angenieux 8-64mm 1:1.9 8 x8b on a bolex h8 rex. Are there cromatic abberations ?
Is the focusing scale off? if it needs to be re-culminated, who does it, and for how much ?
thanks
rg

Re: Angenieux on h8 rex
You will definitely need to have that lens recollimated to the camera.
In addition, you will most likely have to use a spacer ring between the lens and the camera to get the correct focus.
Any good camera technician with a collimator should be able to do the work for you.

Re: Angenieux on h8 rex
I thought that having a lens recollimated to the camera it would not require a spacer, interesting. I have a Bolex H-8Rex DS8mm that has a custom hard front on it that an Angenieux 8-64 lens works just fine on. Only issue is that now Bolex Rx lenses do not work on it. But, I can use any C mount lens now.
Maybe something like this could be an option if there is anyone out there that can make one.

Re: Angenieux on h8 rex
There is too much of a difference in flange focal distance between the H8RX mount and the regular C-mount. I don't think the lens has enough possibilities for adjustment to achieve collimation without a spacer.
Instead of a custom hard front, you can have one of the turret openings modified with a permanent C-mount while leaving the other two for the H8RX lenses. I have done this for a few forum members. Send me a PM for details.
