Hi all, a while ago I bought a Bolex P1 online, the camera is in really nice condition and runs well, especially after I opened it up and gave it a lube with some clock oil, it sounds beautiful and runs super smooth. However, the lens is a different story, the main problem (apart from an old UV filter which refuses to come off!) is that it appears to not be able to focus correctly. I've adjusted the viewfinder but when focused to infinity the image in the split image viewfinder doesn't line up, and the lens can't turn fully to the infinity mark. I have another P1 and a P3 which can be focused correctly to infinity, but the lens of the P1 in question seems to protrude a couple of mm further than the other cameras, making me think maybe someone tried to remove the stuck filter and damaged the lens in the process.
Anyway, my question is, seeing as this is a very good example apart from the lens, would i be able to fit the lens of another P1 onto this camera? It appears to be a straightfoward procedure but I don't know if i'm likely to encounter any calibration or focus issues with a different lens, assuming the replacement lens is all good. If anyone could tell me if this should work that would be much appreciated, as apart from the lens this camera is in great condition, thanks, Mike.

Re: Removing Bolex P1 lens
What you describe doesn't sound like a big problem. It seems that somebody messed with the front barrel that has the distance numbers printed on and didn't tighten it in the right position anymore. I'm sure somebody on the forum who knows the P1 better than me can give you exact instructions how to put it back in the right setting.
