Beaulieu 5008S auto exposure

Post by SJohnson »

I just received a Beaulieu 5008S camera with a Schneider 1.8/6-66 lens and everything seems to be working properly, however, I am a little confused by the auto exposure function. The camera automatically adjusts the aperture when the power is engaged, however, when film is running, it does not. Is it supposed to do this or is there something I am missing?

As long as the power switch is depressed, the exposure meter should work regardless of whether you're on standby or filming. On both Auto and Manual.
If not, your camera is not operating normally.

The aperture should change while filming, not just while the power is on. However, even in auto it isn't as responsive and quick as you might expect if you are used to other cameras. It has to physically rotate that aperture ring.
