Single 8 sources outside of europe

Post by Sasounet »

Hi,

I live in Canada and I would like to buy some Fujica Single8 films. I know some stores in Europe have them (like widescreen center) but they are very expensive so I would like to buy directly from Japan (or in N.A if possible) to keep the price low; I don't want to pay for twice the shipping charges!

Any suggestions ?

Thank you,
Francois

You need to contact Tak Koyama at Retro Tuhon. He went to school in the USA so he speaks perfect english. He takes credit cards also so payment is no problem.

here is a link to his home page>

I get mine from eBay. I also repair minor defects with the auto/manual aperture switch and other stuff. I reimported and sold about 40 of them when I lived in Tokyo, Japan. There is a market for them with collage students who want to make films over there. 16mm and larger format is crazy expensive over in Japan, like 4 times more expensive then the USA. You want a Z-600 or Z-800, don't bother with lesser cameras. The P300 is nice and compact but the auto aperture is flaky and there is no manual mode.

Hello, Paul cotto.

Yes, it's damn expensive to shoot on 16mm and larger format in Japan.
Like you mentioned, it is about 4 times more expensive than the USA for processing. The price of the film stock in Japan is about the same in the USA, though.

It's much cheaper to send films to the labs in the USA with the shipping cost included. only X-ray thing is the problem.

If you have a paypal account perhaps you wouldn't mind selling us some film? I am sure folks would be happy to pay a reasonable service charge for your trouble. Just a thought.
