I've shot a couple times at night, but it was using slower equipment and stock. That said, if you're shooting outside with a reasonable amount of artificial light (ie: not in the woods) I'd definitely use manual exposure, because the automatic will either overcompensate and reduce your contrast in favor of cranking up the exposure -- or it'll read a bright light and underexpose for that light. Use your meter and find a mid range between your subject, the black of night, and the bright lights in the vicinity.
That said, youtube has a lot of 500T footage shot at night, do a search and observe what's working and what's not. It's amazingly fast film if you like color, and it seems like if you've got urban light, you can hardly go wrong.
Test a roll first if it's crucial. This is basic stuff but never hurts to remind folks.
best of luck

The only exposure issue you need to worry about is setting your apeture wide open at night even with 500T. Since there is no chance of over exposing anything, and many chances of under exposure. I've used plenty of 500T at night with a Canon 814XLS, 220 shutter at f1.4 on the Las Vegas Strip, and various other locations. Close ups of neon signs, under bright existing light ect... just shoot wide open, 500ASA is not as fast as you think under existing light at night.
