Point me Walmart stores who really UNDERSTAND processing 8mm

Post by winbert »

I heard that Walmart still takes processing super 8mm Ektachrome for $6 something.

I have followed threads here that some members do this to cut the cost (on shipping and processing fee).

(It is also revealed that although Walmart doing contract with Fuji but Fuji will forward it to Dwayne for process).

Now, I have been trying several Walmart stores and ended up as.... you may have guessed. "What is that" or "We don;t do that" or "I don;t know" etc, etc....

So can some one here that has succeeded to process film through Walmart, to tell me which store is that? and it will be helpful if you can also mention one or two names you are dealing with.

thanks

I sure would like to know as well! I am in Honolulu, and it would be very cost effective for me!

I think that Super8man would know...

Not anymore I don't...I simply mail my film directly to Dwaynes...I only ever processed KODACHROME through walmart and anyone else that would accept it (and still had problems).

But when Ektachrome came along, I NEVER got lucky on the $6 processing like some claimed.

So, I send it directly. Come on now folks, cameras are basically free and Dwaynes still gives a great price on processing when dealing directly.

Good luck!

Walmart does NOT send out Super-8 E-6. They always took K-14, but every time I tried to send out an E-6 cartridge, it got returned unprocessed.

However, Walmart will send out Double 8 in E-6. It comes back in about 2 weeks, and costs $6.88. You don't talk to anyone at Walmart, just fill out the sendout envelope and drop it in the box.

Dwaynes, also AlpheCine, who do Super 8 daily and have a very fast turnaround and national rep. like Dwaynes. Also, by initiating a relationship with the lab all of a sudden you're a person to them, and that'll never happen at WalMart.

I'm also compelled to remark that WalMart's "services" are often weak imitations of for local services that they bulldozed out of business...
But everyone knows that

Sorry guys, it doesn't mean I don't want to appreciate Dwyane, but when I have 20 cartridges now in my hand to be processed, the cost become very significant between Dwyane vs via Walmart.

I am making film purely for my hobby (not making single penny from it), so saving the cost is very important for me.

It is quite confusing for me, why Walmart will take Double 8 but not Super 8mm, while it has the same process (i.e E-6)?

Can someone explain?

Long Answer: They have their rules.

Short answer: Tough.

Summary: Ain't no way no how you are going to get those S8 carts processed via walmart.

Small Print: Your mileage may vary. Past performance is no indication of future events.

I regularly process film using Walmart. I had trouble at first but I have done so many that photo people are now trained and know what to do. The biggest problem is that Walamrt photo clerks want to send to video lab for transfer and the transfer lab sends the film back saying they do not process film. It is very important that box on the bottom is checked and that for special service you write in the box at the bottom "Ektachrome film for processing. Send to Dwayne's Parson KS" and somewhere on the envelope write "NOT FOR VIDEO TRANSFER. DO NOT SEND TO VIDEOLAB"

I contacted Dwayne's and they still have an agreement with Walamrt to process E6 Movie film. In the comment box Write "8mm movie film" instead of Ektachrome as I wrote earlier.

I must admit I find this insane that Wal Mart will do double 8mm film or ANY movie film for that matter. My understanding is that many Wal Marts don't even sell 35mm film anymore!

The Walmart near me still sells film, but I think there are more disposable cameras than film only.

Hi all,

I finally got a confirmed answer.

You can contact:
Walmart
777 Story Rd, San Jose, CA

to drop your super8mm film which will cost you $6.48/cart + tax.

Because I don't live in USA, if somebody can google that address to find Walmart contact no, perhaps can share here what the situation now.

thanks

I have called them, but the first question was "Can I send item via post and you process"

and the answer was "no, you have to come in person".

Since I am in Canada and don't have relatives in San Jose, I didn't follow up the call with super 8mm question.

But if you have friends or relatives there you can ask their favor.

thanks
