I’m the happy owner of a Beaulieu 4008 ZMII that had been revised by Bjorn Andersson three years ago. Happy, at least until recently, when the needle of the internal lightmeter became somehow capricious : even though it still seems reactive to ambiant light variations, the amplitude of its movements is drastically reduced, restricted to the quarter of the maximal amplitude. In short, it has become useless.
I initially suspected a battery problem, but the motor still seems to work great. Has someone experienced such a problem ? Could this result from a poor electrical contact ?
And mostly, is a repair worth it (if possible)?
I know it’s better to rely on an external lightmeter, but in most situations, this internal meter seemed quite accurate and gave me very close readings compared to the external one. So in certain circumstances, it was convenient to use, with very little risk of bad exposure… (except for the exposure risk due to the cameraman, of course
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.
