Double 8 processing options
If I shoot 16mm that's been repreforated to shoot on Double 8 cameras can I send it to lab that processes 16mm or do I need to find a specialized place that specifically processes Standard/Double 8? Seems really hard to come by . . . .

If you have a 16mm-8mm film slitter, you can send it to any 16mm lab. If not, then you need to send it to an 8mm-compatible lab. The only real difference between the two is whether or not they have slitting equipment

I suggest you write (w/marker pen) or tape a note on the film can as to what kind of film stock it is. Lab's don't like cross processing or mucking up their soup lines.
I've had several types of film re perforated, and one time I didn't know if the two cans of film in my camera bag were 50 or 500 speed film! Mr Nowill & Mr John Schwind seal their film cans with different colour tape, but the labs won't know what sort of film it is, E-6 or C-41.

Re: Double 8 processing options
The Double 8 film I get from John Schwind is marked Chrome 100D ASA 100 Daylight, N8 (2x8 MM). It also says color reversal film for Double 8mm movie cameras, process E6. I don't think there would be any confusion with that.
I send it to Alpha Cine in Seattle and they know exactly what it is. They split it and splice it and do a great job processing. They're very professional and are usually very fast as well. Here is a link if you are interested.

Re: Double 8 processing options
Yes that's right, John Schwind labels his film cans. I supplied Mr Nowill with empty 25' spools and cans together with my 100 or 400 foot film cans of my own 500T, 50D C41, and 100D E6 films. Haven't done any B&W Kodak or Foma-R yet.
We recycle 25' spools and cans. My film cans were embossed with "Kodak". They were old Kodachrome 25D, cans that Dwanyes in Kansas nicely returned to me with my processed films. I also recycled ancient Kodachrome II spools and cans when I found them.

Re: Double 8 processing options
just FYI (not intended as an advert), we do process Double 8 / DoubleSuper 8 if that is of any help, same prices as for Super 8 carts.
