Hello,
I am new to this forum and this is my first question. I have searched here and elsewhere for the answer thinking this would have been covered by now but maybe not. My theory is this on recording sound with Super 8. I have a Canon HV30 HD camcorder that shoots video at 24fps. Can I record audio through the HV30 at 24fps and have that match up with the film shot at 24fps? Sounds viable but has anyone heard of or tried this? I have just purchased a Canon Autozoom 814 Electronic Super 8 and plan to shoot some film with sound if this will work. Thanks

Yes you can record sound this way, your sound won't be in perfect sync nless its speed is crystal controlled. Most peole don't have their cameras crystal controlled. You'lll have to fiddle around with the audio in post. If you edit on video matching your sound to your images and achieving sync is quite easy, that's how most people record sound. You'll find lots of exaples on Youtube and Vimeo.

clap before and after (w slate upside down), stretch audio to fit, works great. i know the search function here sucks but try it, it's been discussed maaaaaany times.

Thanks for all the replies and great help. Sorry for the inquiry, my reseach capabilities really failed me on this. I had googled "audio synch with super 8" and didn't get much. It did however lead me to this site which has, in turn, helped me find the answers I needed. "Sound sync" would have been better I see. I am brand new to Super 8 and am looking forward to starting this journey. I have done video all my life but am finding out that film is way more complicated. Thanks again, you guys are all awesome. Next time I will research more first.
