Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
Sorry guys, I bet you were wondering why the Bauer title? I have one and was going to ask if this is ok for the new ectachrome 100D film.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
Coincidentally, Bauer cameras have problems with 100D. This is asured by a former worker oat Bauer in France, who now runs this site:

Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
After rough translation it reads as below
Cameras electric family C1, D1, C2, D2, C2A, D2A, C2B, D2B, and CRoyal DRoyal 6,8,10 accept Ekta100 D requires sunlight to filter / lamp on the lamp position FOREVER.
D3, electrical, etc. D1M series Compact 3 batteries do not accept Ekta100
Electronic cameras from the C4 C4, C6, C8, C100 CroyalE the 104,106,107,108, 500,700,900 and the noise from 204 to 209 the S200 S300 305 307 S407's, S409, S609, S709, S715
Ekta100 do not accept they can still be set to use this film even be modified to accept all sensitivities from 40 to 200AS
The noise made by Chinon BAUER could not be tested I did not .... Prora to only the S108 II who had a personal cell adjustment + / - 1 f-stop can be used in putting on this button + 2 / 3 of diaph
As a bigginer can some one tell me if its worth putting ectachrome through this camera, I would hate to get bad results.
If not I will be on the lookout for a camera that will exept Ecta100

Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
Reading above I assume the C500 cannot. He is a former factory worker specialised in Bauers... it's all up to you!
Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
I have one of these cameras, and although I can confirm that it does not read 100D correctly, I did an experiment with 100D. I just put the cartridge in, put the filter out by setting the switch to "bulb" and shot some footage.
I found that, if using it in medium to bright conditions, the 2/3 underexposure does not make the image look dark and underexposed. It gives a nice strong saturation. It has a reasonably wide under/over exposure latitude, for a reversal film.
Just set your camera to the bulb setting and blaze away. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Best thing to do is get a cart and test. Try as many different settings as you can. Document every shot. It'll save you wasting film in the long run.

Re: Bauer C 500 XL M
Yip, best advice, thanks. Im going to try a cart in each camera and do as you say.
Would you recomend using the same scean, eg a scean including trees, buildings, people static, lots of colour and even a painted picture and noting the settings within the camera ?
I never had this problem years ago, it was just point and shoot to a degree.
Thanks again for your answers and suggestions.
