On a recent sunny saturday my kids Kalle (5) and Ella (3) wanted to become movie stars -- which led to a spontaneous shooting with the two as main actors.
The ideas was old, I just never executed it entirely (once Kahl fscked up my film stock...):
Camera was mounted upside down on a tripod and the entire film was then flipped horizontally after development.
See "Konstruktivismus" on http://www.vimeo.com/15644473 and let me know what you think -- any opinion is welcome, I promise to not pass on any criticism to the kids ;)

Re: A film filmed backwards
A nice take on the backwards film idea. Great quality for Super 8, I must say.
What was the music?

Re: A film filmed backwards
This is, of course, an old idea... turn the camera upside down and then reverse the film end to end after processing to get the picture the right way up... and the film runs backwards. But that is the technique if you are going to PROJECT the film and is needed to get the picture the right way up.
You achieve the SAME effect when transferring to DVD or tape by filming normally and then scanning the film END FIRST, and inverting it in the edit program.
So if you want the "backwards filming" effect, you can do it with ANY film... you do not need to have an upside down mount for the camera.

Re: A film filmed backwards
Thanks, granfer. Certainley I do shoot film to project it. Any other use, as telecine, is secondary. Actually, this was my first telecine made ever, and primarily to see what quality is possible with that.
BTW: Scanning backwards AND inverting it in editing would be counterproductive ;-)
