Hi All,
I recently bought a 1952 Kodak Brownie 8.MM Movie Camera.
I ordered 4 Kodak Plus X Super 8 B&W reversable films which came in cartridges!
While I'm evalutating to get them changed, I'm wondering if its possible to respool the films from the cartridges to a spare spool ?
Cant find any info on this subject.
Thanks!
Ciao,
Emilio

Your camera takes Regular 8mm, not Super 8 mm. You need to swap them with your supplier, but if he doesn't do Regular 8mm (sometimes known as Standard 8mm), then you've a problem.

Absolututely not a good idea. The previous post had it right. Super 8 film is not compatible with your camera. Do not remove the S8 from the cartridge. Borrow a S8 camera if the dealer will not accept the film.

Ditto. What he said... The film for your camera is "Regular 8" AKA (also known as) "Double 8" and Standard 8. The film is actually sort of 16mm film stock, with twice the sprocket holes specially perforated then loaded onto a 16mm wide spool. It runs through the camera twice. First you shoot half of it, then you flip the spool, reload it, and shoot the second half. The lab splits the film and joins them together onto a 8mm spool for editing, transfer, or projection.
You wouldn't be able to shot Super 8 in the 8mm camera. Some Communist era Soviet cameras take the thinner 8mm film on 8mm spools. These you don't filp over and reload, but your camera (my guess) takes the larger 16mm wide Reg 8/Double 8 spools.
Easy to get Regular 8/Double 8 films, but it's not going to work putting 8mm wide film into the 16mm wide Regular 8/Double 8/Standard 8 spool. You can find 8mm film on Ebay UK of film stock that was 16mm film stock reperfed and respooled onto standard 8 format.
You could reload a Fuji Single 8 cart with Super 8 film, that would work, but you'll need a Fujica Single 8 camera.

Might as well find a Super 8 camera, or sell the Super 8 film stock on EBay and get some Standard 8 film.

You can get Reg 8mm stock from John Schwind at:

You should have no problem selling the Plus X Super 8 stock as it's in demand after Kodak discontinued it recently.
