100D Test Roll Comments
I got back a test roll of Ektachrome 100D today processed by Spectra. I was very pleased with the results. I've shot 64T, Velvia 50D, Kodachrome, and other stocks in the past. I like what I've shot with 100D in my first roll. What I did was 1/3 or 1/2 stop underexposed manually depending on the scene (bright or partial shadows, etc.)...and the colors especially the reds look tight. I've heard complaints about overblown highlights. That's not evident in this roll.
This was shot with the Nizo S800 and the film was projected...not yet telecined.

Need that link.
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
There's no link. I'm just making a statement that Kodak's new stock is good.

Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
great things worked out for you.what filter did you use. daylight-tungsten. did you start auto, or did you go straight for manual setting?
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
All shot outdoors using the Tungsten filter ( per Kodak instructions). I used auto TTL only to check what f/stop to use then I switched to manual and underexposed slightly and made my shots. No other filters used on the Nizo.
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
oops--- I did have a UV filter but I don't consider it a factor.

Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
the auto will take uv or nd filter into consideration. Then you make adjustments going manual. The jury is still out on over- or underexposure ,daylight or tungsten. One poster said: 'filter will be disabled, no matter what'. The question is: will the camera see the film as 100 asa, or will it automatically choose to go to 160, in case you would use the tungsten filter, if it isn't automatically disabled, like the poster said.I'm thinking, maybe it doesn't matter which setting. In the coming weeks more and more people will have tested the new E100d film w their camera and we'll be the wiser.Davideo wrote:oops--- I did have a UV filter but I don't consider it a factor.
(see my posts for more info 'nd filters' and 'Nizo 561macro and ektachrome 100d)'
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
UV filters have a filter factor of 1 but I don't really pay attention to it because I'm using a TTL meter and it's already compensated for.
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
I just got 2 E100D rolls back today. This time I used my 814XLS and a 2 stop polorizer, and holy crap it looks good. The colors, density, and sharpness were probably the best I've seen on S8 reversal. I'll post some scans over the weekend.

Amen! That's how I felt with my footage. Haven't seen anything this good since Kodachrome from the 1950's.

Hi!
I'm still waiting for my film stock to arrive. Based on the comments so far about the film it seems to be fantastic!
Has anyone experienced any jittering with 100D? I have a Canon 814XL-S.

I thought the colours in this 100D clip were pretty sweet. Not my footage.

Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
I watched my new 100D after reviewing some kodachrome from the early 70's and 100D blows it away completely. The Polorizer i used rotates for different color temps based on the scenery. I didn't have any jitter-

Did you use auto exposure with the polariser? Jean
Re: 100D Test Roll Comments
Some of the time. Otherwise I have a grey card I like to read off of when possible, and lock my exposure to that-Jean Poirier wrote:Did you use auto exposure with the polariser? Jean
