I was just wondering if this is a totally crazy thought or if there is anyone out there who currently offers optical prints to/from 8mm or Super 8 film. Also, is there anyone making copies of super8/8mm film?

Pull that old movie camera out of the closet! I'm sure it's hungry for some film!

Re: 8mm/Super 8 Optical Prints
I'd be interested to know as well. Back in the day I bought all of Paul Yosts sound stripping equipment to start my own business. But I only ever had one or two customers a month. I was going to combine the business with optical printing, but it never worked out. I sold the sound stripper to a company in LA. I still got the optical printer.
What's the Kodachrome project about? I got 11 more carts of Kodachrome 40 to shoot before December!

Hi,
Andec is making Super8-prints from Super-negatives.
AFAIK there's no lab left directly doing Super8-prints from Super8-reversal as Kodak stopped selling its S8-reversal-print-material in 2005.
The few labs that still produce Super8-prints from Super8-reversal "force" you to pay for an "Internegative" in 16mm or 35mm.

That's great to know someone is doing them! I'll have to try it at some point even though I'm in the US.
The Kodachrome project is kind of winding down but it's objective was to save Kodachrome/ preserve America as it is today on Kodachrome. It's pretty cool.

Re: 8mm/Super 8 Optical Prints
I did my first 16mm print a few months ago and was blown away. Had about 600 feet timed at Alpha Cine in Seattle and loved the results.
I've been used to projecting Ektachrome 100D in 16mm but this print looked really good, if slightly less saturated. Colors were spot on.
Also nice to have one long print without any splices.
If I shot more Super 8 negative I would try having it blown up to 16mm for projection rather than back to Super 8 positive.
Now I would love to find a way to do a film out in 16mm with audio. That would be fun to edit in get HD telecine then edit Final Cut Pro and output a 5 minute short film for projection.
