Canon 1014 Counter Problem

Post by tomsimpson »

Hi,

Sorry to have to post this, I've done a search but can't quite get the answer.

I have a Canon 1014 Electronic that has been working brilliantly for me. However on my last shoot a Vision2 cartridge jammed on me and since then the counter on the side won't turn when I press the trigger.

I did a test by drawing a marker on some film and and everything appears to be running smoothly through the camera, but the counter is not turning.

I'm about to embark on a big (and expensive) super 8 project, so I want to make sure that the camera is still working (though obviously without a counter) before I go any further. Hopefully you guys will know something?

Thanks again for your help!

P.S - I just finished this music video. Its a mixture of super 8 (mostly) and DV footage. Any comments would be brilliant... http://www.vimeo.com/7212252

Tom,

I enjoyed the song and the video. Nice intercutting between the film and video footage.

I have no idea what may be causing your counter problems... other than the 1014E is an old camera... things are bound to go wrong.

I recently had my 1014E worked on by Du-All in New York City. I did this more as Preventive maintenance. It was working fine but I am shooting more now, so I did it for peace of mind.

Good luck with your big project.

Hi,

New development. Turns out it was not the counter that was broken. Film was not running through the camera like I thought. So I had someone look at it and it would appear that the nylon strips that turn the gears in the camera are shredded.

The guy I spoke to says thats it, there is nothing I can do. Just checking if anyone else knows differently?

Cheers!
